Spiderman First appeared in Ironman 2.

Who Is This Boy Now Confirmed.

                                      Its Peter Parker.
As Tom Holland prepares for his second time wearing Peter Parker’s spidey suit in the MCU with Spider-Man: Homecoming, the 21-year-old actor has confirmed a major fan theory about his character. Although Holland first appeared in last year’s Captain America: Civil War, it appears that Peter Parker’s origins in the expanded universe happened long before that.

As one of the best tin-foil theories out there since the MCU started back in 2008, some have long-held belief that Peter Parker snuck in a sneaky cameo to 2010’s Iron Man 2. While it wasn’t Holland in the part, the end of the film features a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it part from a little boy who stands up to one of the Hammer drones. Stark flies in just in time and congratulates the boy with “Nice work, kid,” before continuing his heroic ways.

Speaking to The Huffington Post, Holland was quizzed about the long-standing theory and whether that really is an even younger Peter Parker behind a kid’s Iron Man mask. Homecoming‘s lead then replied with, “It is,” before going into more detail:

“I can confirm that, that is Peter Parker. I can confirm that as of today. I literally had a conversation with Kevin Feige only 20 minutes ago. Maybe I’ve just done a big, old spoiler, but it’s out there now. It’s cool. I like the idea that Peter Parker has been in the universe since the beginning.”
Coming from the mouth of Kevin Feige himself, we should presumably take this as gospel. The theory had previously just been hearsay, based mainly on the fact that the Stark Expo took place close to Parker’s residence in Queens. Also, with Jon Watts’ Spider-Man: Homecoming putting Peter in his teens, the timelines of ages married up nicely. The news also neatly explains Peter’s obsession with tech, but does make you question why he didn’t say “Yeah, we’ve met” to Stark in Civil War.

With Iron Man 2 considered a pretty mixed-bag affair, it suffered from Mickey Rourke’s slurring Ivan Vanko, a below-average Monaco action sequence, and ultimately a filler movie there to set up The Avengers. However, Holland’s news makes the film a whole lot cooler and goes down in history as the film to introduce Peter Parker into the MCU. With Feige and Holland having discussed the issue so recently, does that mean we will get to see the big reveal on our screens in Homecoming? If this is the case, we could be treated to a nifty flashback to Iron Man 2 with some new footage of Stark and Parker – it wouldn’t certainly help expand the duo’s budding bromance.

Holland is the obvious lead in Watts’ upcoming film, which pits Michael Keaton’s tech-obsessed Vulture against Robert Downey Jr.’s philanthropist Stark. However, with Homecoming clearly looking back to the past of Stark Enterprises and the Avengers films, the Iron Man 2 reveal could be a wonderful Easter Egg to slot in among Avengers bank heists, the mechanical Vulture, and a whole harem of Shockers.
